Uterine fibroids, which are localized in the cervical canal, are not diagnosed as often as tumors in the uterine cavity or on the outer layer of the organ. The development of a tumor in the cervical canal leads to obstruction and severe pain, which requires immediate treatment. Specialists at the Other Gynecology clinic provide both routine and emergency care for cervical fibroids .

Forms of cervical fibroids

Forms of cervical fibroids vary in location in the cervix. Doctors identify three main locations of fibroids:

  1. Cervical location. The tumor occurs at the junction of the vagina and cervical canal. This type is diagnosed very rarely and is more often a consequence of uterine fibroids.
  2. Corporate localization. The tumor develops in the internal tissues of the cervix. This is the most common type of pathology.
  3. Location in the cervix. This type manifests itself in the form of impaired bladder emptying; going to the toilet is painful.

This pathology in the area of the cervical canal does not allow a woman to become pregnant and carry a baby.

Conservative therapy

Drug treatment is prescribed only for small sizes of cervical fibroids, which are not accompanied by unpleasant symptoms and are characterized by the absence of pain. Most often, hormonal drugs (usually contraceptives) are used for drug treatment, which help restore hormonal levels and stop tumor growth.

Sometimes drug treatment is used preoperatively to shrink the tumor and make it easier to remove. But the drugs themselves cannot completely cure a woman of a benign tumor.

Surgery

Myometomy is the best surgical method for removing cervical fibroids. The intervention is performed laparotomically or laparoscopically. If the main reason for the inability to get pregnant was uterine fibroids, then this gives the patient a short opportunity to conceive a child. But the operation relieves the woman of pain or menstrual irregularities.

If infertility arose not only due to cervical fibroids, but the intervention does not help the patient get rid of the root cause of the disorder.

During a laparotomy, a small incision is made in the abdomen through which surgical instruments are inserted. This operation is performed only in cases of large size of the formation, serious consequences and severe changes in the structure of the cervix. In other cases, a more gentle technique is used, in which only three small punctures are made in the abdomen.
