In addition to vision loss, glaucoma causes many other discomforts such as nausea, headaches and pain in the eyes. In order to get rid of unpleasant symptoms, doctors prescribe eye drops for primary glaucoma. Taufon drops are considered to be the most effective and popular.
You can buy such a drug at any pharmacy without a prescription, but in no case should you prescribe this drug yourself as a treatment for glaucoma - only a doctor has the right to do this. Such precautions must be observed due to the fact that glaucoma can have several stages and forms, and the necessary therapy is prescribed for each degree of development of the disease.
After all, if you have an acute attack of glaucoma, such drops can do harm instead of helping. In addition, time will be lost that should be spent on proper treatment. You will find out all the detailed information about the drug “Taufon” in our article. Enjoy reading.
Are there drugs for cataracts and glaucoma at the same time?
“Taufon” for glaucoma Source: irecommend.ru Such drops do not exist. At least for today. Everything is explained by the completely different origins of these diseases. Accordingly, for an effective therapeutic effect, the drug must act differently. To make it clearer, let us briefly consider the mechanisms of development of cataracts and glaucoma:
- What happens to the eye with cataracts? Lens fibers consist of water-soluble proteins, which, when decomposed with age, transform into water-insoluble proteins and become opaque. Because of this, the lens becomes cloudy, light passes into the retina worse and worse, and visual acuity decreases.
- For glaucoma, the main problem is that intraocular pressure (IOP) regularly or periodically increases significantly, which over time leads to complete atrophy of the optic nerve.
This occurs due to an imbalance between the production and timely outflow of intraocular fluid (IOH). The outflow tract may be partially blocked (open-angle glaucoma) or completely blocked (angle-closure glaucoma). The intraocular fluid accumulates and compresses the optic nerve. Vision begins to decline to the point of disability if nothing is done.
In this regard, the main task of drops for glaucoma is to normalize intraocular pressure and balance in the circulation of the intraocular eye. And medications for cataracts help restore the metabolism and transparency of lens proteins.
What is IOP (Intraocular pressure)?
The eye is a complex hydrodynamic system that circulates fluid from the lens to the cornea and back, feeding the eyeball and creating images on the retina. The occurrence of pressure in the internal contents of the eye is closely related to a decrease in the outflow of liquid matter.
The normal value of intraocular pressure is in the range from 11 to 23 mm Hg. Art. Increased eye pressure without signs of glaucoma causes ocular hypertension; if the IOP value is significantly lower than normal, then the opposite is observed in patients - ocular hypotension.
Fluctuations in IOP associated with seasonal changes, or simply throughout the day, are a common occurrence. With a sharp change in heart rate (heart rate) and respiratory process, changes occur in eye pressure. It also depends to a large extent on physical training, daily fluid intake and other everyday factors.
The main reasons for persistent changes in IOP: recent surgery on the organs of vision, excessive or, on the contrary, insufficient production of ocular fluid, insufficient or excessive drainage of ocular fluid, side effects of certain medications, eye injury.
If changes in IOP do not affect the quality of vision, then drug intervention is not the first necessity. If ocular hypertension or hypotension is detected, eye drops that regulate IOP may be prescribed. Local treatment with eye drops is often used as a first aid remedy to normalize eye pressure.
But it is worth considering that eye drops to reduce intraocular pressure can cause remission and mask the symptoms of a serious illness, therefore, if there is a suspicion of increased IOP, you first need to undergo a comprehensive examination by an ophthalmologist, and only then begin treatment.
If the cause of the complication is not eliminated, glaucoma may develop in the future. This disease transforms elevated IOP into the chronic stage of the disease, which can only be treated with surgical methods: laser surgery or intraocular surgery. There are also eye drops for glaucoma, but they do not guarantee a 100% result.
Symptoms of the disease
The name “glaucoma” refers to the first and most noticeable sign of the disease, namely the blueness and clouding of the pupil (translated from Greek, this term means “sea of green”). Know! With this disease, the patient experiences an increase in intraocular pressure for various reasons, resulting in excessive stress on the optic nerve.
Since the nerve is the connecting link that transmits the “picture” from the retina to the brain, vision loss occurs, which may be irreversible if the disease is in an advanced stage.
The danger of this pathology is that in most cases it develops without noticeable signs, and even the person himself cannot suspect the presence of such an illness. In the best case, signs such as:
- causeless decrease in visual acuity;
- narrowing of the field of view (peripheral vision disappears);
- when looking at light sources, rainbow stains and spots appear before your eyes;
- headache;
- decreased quality of vision in the dark or in poor lighting;
- pain and burning in the eyes.
If such symptoms are detected, persons over 40 years of age are recommended to undergo examination by an ophthalmologist to confirm or exclude the diagnosis of glaucoma. Keep in mind! Statistics show that the earlier treatment for such a pathology is started, the more favorable the prognosis.
Comparison of addiction between Floxal and Taufon
Like safety, addiction also involves many factors that must be considered when evaluating a drug.
So the totality of values of such parameters as “o syndrome” in Floxal is less than similar values in Taufon. Withdrawal syndrome is a pathological condition that occurs after the cessation of intake of addictive or dependent substances into the body. And resistance is understood as initial immunity to a drug; in this it differs from addiction, when immunity to a drug develops over a certain period of time. The presence of resistance can only be stated if an attempt has been made to increase the dose of the drug to the maximum possible.
Types of drops to reduce intraocular pressure
Today, there are many different drugs for the treatment of glaucoma in the form of eye drops, which are classified:
- by active chemical substance: prostaglandins, beta blockers, cholinomimetics, etc.,
- by the mechanism of reducing intraocular pressure: reducing the production of intraocular fluid, improving the outflow of intraocular fluid and drugs with a combined mechanism of action.
Prostaglandin analogues
Prostaglandins are highly effective and safe drugs for glaucoma. Intraocular pressure decreases 2 hours after instillation, the maximum effect is achieved after 12 hours.
New treatments for glaucoma
These drugs: Travatan (Alcon), Xalatan (Pfizer), Tafluprost, etc., appeared relatively recently. However, due to their high efficiency and duration of action (they need to be instilled only once a day), they have established themselves as the drug of choice in the treatment of glaucoma.
Their mechanism of action is based on improving the outflow of intraocular fluid through an additional outflow pathway. But prostaglandin group drugs have a number of side effects: transient redness of the eyes (due to dilated superficial vessels), changes in the color of the iris (it becomes darker) and increased eyelash growth (they become thicker, longer and darker).
The latest side effect of prostaglandins, which pleases some patients, has also found its way into cosmetics companies.
Beta blockers
This group of drugs reduces the production of intraocular fluid. They begin to act 30 minutes after application with maximum effect after 2 hours, so the frequency of instillation is usually 2 times a day. They are often prescribed in combination with prostaglandins to enhance the effect.
Timolol, Arutimol, Okumol, Okupress, Okumed - this is an incomplete list of existing beta blockers used in the treatment of glaucoma. As a rule, they have the same active chemical substance, so they are interchangeable. But these drugs have a number of side effects: decreased heart rate, bronchospasm, etc.
Therefore, these drugs are contraindicated for people with certain heart diseases, bronchial asthma, and emphysema. There are highly selective beta blockers Betoptik and Betoptik S (Alcon), their side effects on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems are less pronounced than other drugs in this group.
Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors
Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors: Azopt (Alcon), Trusopt, reduce the production of intraocular fluid. These are highly effective and safe drugs that have no side effects on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, but should be used with caution in people with certain kidney diseases.
Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors are usually given twice a day and can be given in combination with other drops, such as beta blockers or prostaglandins, if necessary. The tablet drug Diacarb has the same active ingredient as Azopt and can also be used in the treatment of glaucoma, especially in acute and subacute attacks of glaucoma.
Cholinomimetics
These drugs (Pilocarpine, Carbocholine) improve the outflow of intraocular fluid by constricting the pupil and contracting certain groups of intraocular muscles, which leads to easier passage of intraocular fluid through the angle of the anterior chamber.
Pilocarpine, as the main representative of this group, is most often prescribed for narrow-angle or closed-angle glaucoma in order to open the drainage network from the root of the iris. Prescribed on average 1-2 times a day.
If necessary, pilocarpine is prescribed in combination with other drugs, for example, beta blockers, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, prostaglandin analogues. Side effects of pilocarpine are caused by a narrow pupil, which can limit the field of vision and cause unpleasant pain in the forehead, eyebrows, and temple.
Combination drugs
Drops have been developed containing several active chemicals in one bottle. When prescribing several drugs at the same time, and this happens quite often, the use of combined drops reduces the number of bubbles and sometimes reduces the frequency of instillation. Such drugs are:
- Xalacom (Pfizer) = Xalatan + Timolol.
- Cosopt (Merck) = Trusopt + Timolol
- Fotil = Pilocarpine + Timolol
Neuroprotectors in the treatment of glaucoma
Neuroprotective treatment, i.e. Treatment aimed at improving nutrition and blood supply to the optic nerve plays an important role in the prognosis and course of glaucoma.
Studies examining changes in the optic nerve during glaucoma prove the feasibility and necessity of neuroprotective treatment for any form of glaucoma, especially in advanced and advanced stages.
It is important to note that there are studies proving some neuroprotective effect of antiglaucoma drops: prostaglandin analogues, beta blockers, etc. But this, as a rule, is not enough.
Today, many drugs are known, of different origins and chemical compositions, that have certain neuroprotective properties. Main groups of neuroprotectors:
- Medicines that improve blood circulation: ginkgo biloba, trental, dicinone, etc.
- Agents that improve the regeneration of nervous tissue: picamelon, cinnarizine, nootropil, fezam, etc.
- Agents that activate the nutrition of nervous tissue: retinalamin, cortexin, Semax, Cerebrolysin, Noben, etc.
- Antioxidants and vitamins: emoxipin, mexidol, aevit, rutin, ascorbic acid, vitamin E, B vitamins, riboxin, lutein complex, mertilen forte, histochrome, erisod, etc.
Features of the drugs
Source: morehealthy.ru To reduce intraocular pressure, you can influence the following eye mechanisms:
- Improve the outflow of intraocular fluid;
- Reduce the production of intraocular fluid.
It is these 2 principles that have become the basis for all medications used in the treatment of glaucoma. The peculiarity of the drugs is that after instillation they quickly penetrate the optic nerves and have a therapeutic effect. Eye pressure drops gently care for the eye, protect against redness and dryness.
Glaucoma medications are produced in convenient bottles that make the treatment process not only effective, but also comfortable. If eye drops enter the body, they can cause gastrointestinal problems and cause dizziness. Antiglaucoma drugs in the form of eye drops are presented in three main types (according to the mechanism of action):
- Drugs that reduce the production of intraocular fluid (adrenoblockers, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors). These are drugs such as Timolol, Betoptik, Trusopt.
- Eye drops that improve the outflow of intraocular fluid from the eyeball, for example, Pilocarpine, Xalatan, Travatan.
- Combined drugs with dual action. These include Fotil (timolol + pilocarpine) and Proxophilin.
The peculiarity of eye drops for glaucoma is that they accumulate their medicinal properties. This, in turn, allows you to maintain intraocular pressure at a normal level even after stopping instillation.
Maintaining intraocular pressure within normal limits can cure glaucoma and get rid of problems with vision loss. The therapeutic effect of the use of drugs is observed from the first day of use.
Comparison of the effectiveness of Floxal and Taufon
The effectiveness of Floxal is quite similar to Taufon - this means that the ability of the drug substance to provide the maximum possible effect is similar.
For example, if the therapeutic effect of Floxal is more pronounced, then using Taufon even in large doses will not achieve this effect.
Also, the speed of therapy - an indicator of the speed of therapeutic action - is approximately the same for Floxal and Taufon. And bioavailability, that is, the amount of a drug reaching its site of action in the body, is similar. The higher the bioavailability, the less it will be lost during absorption and use by the body.
"Taufon" for glaucoma - application
Visual impairments have been diagnosed more and more recently, which is largely due to the development of computer technology. While working in front of a computer monitor, under the influence of electromagnetic radiation, the mucous membranes of the eyes become dry, and the eye tissues begin to feel an urgent need for water and oxygen.
This is expressed by symptoms such as redness of the eyes, burning sensation, dryness, the presence of a foreign body in the eye, etc. Over time, this can lead to the development of various eye diseases: myopia, farsightedness, cataracts, etc.
To avoid this, it is recommended to regularly visit an ophthalmologist, as well as use regenerating and vitamin preparations for the eyes that can protect against degenerative changes. One such medicine is Taufon eye drops.
The chemical composition of this drug is extremely simple - it is a 4% aqueous solution of taurine, which is the active ingredient of the drug. Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid that is formed during the conversion of cysteine (an amino acid that is part of the main proteins of the body).
This substance is capable of stimulating recovery processes in cases of dystrophic disorders of the retina, as well as disorders of eye tissue associated with injuries. Taurine has the following positive effects on eye tissue:
- stimulates the processes of normalization of cell membrane functions;
- activates metabolic and energy processes;
- helps maintain the electrolyte composition of the cytoplasm due to the accumulation of potassium and calcium ions;
- improves the conduction of nerve impulses.
In addition, to increase the shelf life of the medicine, the preservative methyl parahydroxybenzoate is added to its composition. The drug is recommended for the treatment of the following diseases:
- dystrophy of the cornea (the transparent membrane of the eye);
- cataract (diabetic, traumatic, radiation, age-related);
- corneal injuries;
- dystrophic lesions of the retina of the eye;
- increased intraocular pressure in glaucoma.
Recently, with the development of computer technology, the number of people suffering from various visual impairments has been rapidly increasing. They are often associated with dystrophic disorders of the cornea, eyeball, retina and lens of the eye.
Remember how often you feel an unpleasant burning sensation in your eyes, accompanied by redness of the eyeballs? This may occur as a result of dry mucous membranes. It occurs under the influence of electromagnetic radiation. Also, in order for the eye to receive enough fluid, frequent blinking is required.
While working at a computer or watching an interesting movie for a long time, the blinking frequency of the human eye is reduced to a minimum. The eye tissues begin to experience an urgent need for water and oxygen. As a result of this, we begin to experience a tickling sensation, as if sand had been poured into our eyes.
Over time, all this leads to the development of myopia or farsightedness. It can also cause the development of cataracts. What to do? It is necessary to undergo regular examinations with an ophthalmologist, take breaks when working with computer equipment, and periodically use vitamin and regenerating preparations. One of them will be discussed in this material.
Taufon eye drops are recommended for use for cataracts and degenerative changes in eye tissue. In the case of cataracts, medications and regimens for their use will be prescribed to you by your doctor. We will talk about the second point - about degeneration of eye tissue, which can develop in any person who spends more than 8 hours a day at the computer and watching TV.
Taufon eye drops – review
I decided to purchase Taufon eye drops after seeing an advertisement. The manufacturer of the drops positions them as help against all ills, namely, the drops promise to help: with damage to the cornea, with various diseases, and also as a remedy that will help preserve the color of the iris.
Actually, I bought it, tried it and am ready to leave my review on Taufon drops.
It turns out that there are several manufacturers of Taufon eye drops - we bought the first one we came across at the pharmacy, the price is 125 rubles, considering modern prices for medicines - not much at all. However, if you read the information, a year ago these drops cost 50 rubles - and this is confusing. Why on earth did the price increase by 250%? Is it by chance because of those annoying advertisements that are shown on TV?
Eye drops Taufon review
To my surprise, the packaging of the drops is very ugly. I expected anything, but this... It clearly reminds me of doll toys. In general, the packaging is awkward - it’s clear that the manufacturer didn’t bother.
However, drops do not leak in the bag and are standard in use.

TAUFON EYE DROPS INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Eye drops Taufon review: instructions
Eye drops Taufon review: instructions
In order not to break your eyes, I will separately extract the most useful information.
Taufon drops indications for use:
- corneal dystrophy;
- cataracts (senile, radiation, traumatic and others);
- open-angle glaucoma (primary) in combination with β-blockers, in order to enhance the release of aqueous humor;
- damage to the cornea (as a stimulator of reparative cellular processes).
There are also minor contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to taurine or additional ingredients;
- age up to 18 years.
And also side effects of Taufon drops:
The identified side effects of the drug are limited to allergic manifestations. In case of severe and/or prolonged allergic reactions, you should temporarily suspend therapy and report the problem to your doctor.
WHY DID I DECIDE TO BUY TAUFON EYE DROPS?
Well, firstly, advertising did its dirty work - I became interested, went on the Internet to read what kind of animal this “taufon” was.
Secondly, a couple of my mother’s acquaintances at work were chattering about Taufon drops - they say they are an excellent remedy for fading of the iris. And my mother, in turn, conveyed all her delight to me.
Thirdly, lately I practically live in front of a screen (a lot of work, studying new materials, practicing - and all this on a laptop), in fact, my eyes hurt, they are red, I feel tired. And my vision began to gradually decline, and problems arose with sharp refocusing from a close object to a distant one.
Eye drops Taufon review
TAUFON APPLICATION + TAUFON DROPS BENEFITS:
I instilled the drops according to the instructions: morning and evening, 1-2 drops in each eye. The plan was to take about a month and take a break for 5-6 months, and then repeat the course again.
I applied it as expected: I removed my makeup, applied drops before bed and in the morning immediately after washing my face. Taufon drops (like other medicines) were stored in the refrigerator door.
Immediately after instillation, the eye burns a little and turns red. But, literally, after 15 minutes this redness goes away completely.
The first 4 days everything was great! With each use, I felt positive changes - my eyes became less red, I became less tired, I felt less tension while working at the computer, and in general, I was happy with everything!
TAUFON DROPS HARM:
But then the problems started. On day 5-6 in the morning I noticed pain in my eyes . It hurt in the “third eyelid” area, the pain was extremely specific, as if a grain of sand had gotten into the corner of my eye and I couldn’t get it out of there with anything (neither water nor a napkin). Well, it cuts and cuts, I thought and went about my business. In the evening I again dripped Taufon drops into my eyes and went to bed.
In the morning the pain continued, I started looking for the culprit: mascara, cream, eye shadow, foundation (what if I accidentally got it?), facial wash? What could it be? I reviewed absolutely everything that had at least some relation to the eyes - everything was tested, I’ve been using many of them for more than a month, there were no problems before. And in general, I’m not allergic and I’ve never had problems with my eyes, all the drops and ointments worked perfectly.
After analyzing everything, only Taufon remained - it was the “newest” in my “shelf” of home remedies. Grudgingly (the effect was good!) I had to exclude it.
And what do you think? After stopping Taufon eye drops, the pain subsided slightly in the evening , and by the morning it was almost completely gone. Well, it finally passed by the third day.
Now these drops are lying idle (I’m thinking of giving them to my mother, maybe they’ll at least suit her). I won’t use them myself anymore, because I’m afraid.
TAUFON ANALOGUES:
I don’t see any point in overpaying for a brand or advertising, so I’ll list a number of analogues of Taufon drops.
The cheapest analogue of Tkapel Taufon is Taurine drops, the price starts from 20 rubles.
Analogues from 60 rubles and above:
Taurine-Akos, Taurine Bufus, Taufon Vita, Taurine-Dia
________________
CONCLUSION: unfortunately, Taufon drops did not work for me. Yes, there was an effect, but all the good things were canceled out by the pain in the eyes and discomfort.
I recommend buying, BUT watch your feelings, if you feel discomfort, first of all, refuse Taufon drops - most likely it’s them.

Indications
The drug is prescribed for pathologies accompanied by damage to eye tissue. It is effective for dystrophic diseases of the cornea, burns, injuries, dystrophies. Taufon eye drops are used for pathological changes in the lens or the angle of the anterior chamber.
Indications for use of the medicine:
- dystrophy of the cornea and retina;
- cataract (clouding of the lens);
- injuries and burns of the cornea;
- open-angle glaucoma;
- increased visual fatigue.
Taufon is prescribed as part of the complex treatment of ophthalmological diseases. This means that it is used in conjunction with other drugs. For glaucoma, the medicine is combined with Timolol, Arutimol or other β-blockers. In case of injury, antibiotics and regenerative agents are used in parallel.
Contraindications
The instructions indicate that the drug is contraindicated in pregnant and lactating women. It should not be used by people who are allergic to certain components of the medicine. Since the effect of Taufon on children has not been studied, the manufacturer does not recommend its use by people under the age of 18.
Unpleasant consequences of taking the drug
In adults, the drug may cause side effects such as allergic reactions. If after instilling Taufon you experience a burning sensation, redness or lacrimation, stop treatment immediately. Along with the indications for the use of eye drops, there are, of course, contraindications that are worth knowing about!
As a rule, it is prohibited to use eye pressure drops if:
- sinus type bradycardia;
- individual intolerance to the components from which the drops are made;
- cardiogenic shock;
- bronchial asthma (namely during its exacerbations);
- chronic lung disease;
- retinal detachment (even if this pathology is likely to develop).
Comparison of the safety of Floxal and Taufon
The safety of a drug includes many factors.
At the same time, in Phloxal it is quite similar to Taufon. It is important where the drug is metabolized: drugs are excreted from the body either unchanged or in the form of products of their biochemical transformations. Metabolism occurs spontaneously, but most often involves major organs such as the liver, kidneys, lungs, skin, brain and others. When assessing the metabolism of Floxal, as well as Taufon, we look at which organ is the metabolizing organ and how critical the effect on it is.
The risk-benefit ratio is when the prescription of a drug is undesirable, but justified under certain conditions and circumstances, with the obligatory observance of caution in use. At the same time, Floxal does not have any risks when used, just like Taufon.
Also, when calculating safety, it is taken into account whether only allergic reactions occur or possible dysfunction of the main organs. In other matters, as well as the reversibility of the consequences of using Floxal and Taufon.
Mechanism of action
Taufon contains the sulfur-containing amino acid taurine. It takes part in energy processes, normalizes disturbed metabolism, and stimulates the healing of damaged tissues. The substance accelerates the formation of structural proteins that make up every cell of our body.
1 milliliter of Taufon contains:
- Taurine (40 mg) is the active ingredient that ensures the pharmacological activity of the drug. It is due to this that the drops have a therapeutic effect.
- Methylparaben (1 mg) is a preservative and antiseptic known as E218. The substance inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria and molds.
- Sodium hydroxide or food additive E524 (1 mg) is a concentrated alkaline solution that has a disinfectant effect.
- Purified water. Serves as a solvent for active components. Water is added until 1 milliliter of solution is obtained.
Taurine accelerates the synthesis of energy, and thereby stimulates the healing of wounds of the cornea, conjunctiva or other structures of the eye. The drug improves trophism - a set of processes that ensure normal vital activity and functioning of the organ. The medicine nourishes the surface membranes of the eyeball and penetrates into the intraocular fluid.
Its active components saturate the lens with useful substances, inhibiting the development of cataracts. The drug slows down the course of degenerative processes in the angle of the anterior chamber of the eye, which is beneficial for open-angle glaucoma. Taufon also helps reduce intraocular pressure.
pharmachologic effect
An aminocarboxylic acid containing sulfur atoms: methionine and cysteine, which is formed as a result of the conversion of cysteine in the body. The drug stimulates energy metabolism, improves recovery processes in pathologies associated with impaired metabolic function.
Helps normalize the functioning of plasma membranes. Helps stimulate metabolic processes, including energy ones. In addition, the drug has a cardiotropic quality due to its anticonvulsant effect on the body.
Effective against:
- disorders of metabolic processes of the retina;
- catarrhal vision damage;
- increased eye pressure in glaucoma;
- corneal nutritional disorders;
- cataracts of various origins: age-related, resulting from trauma or radiation;
- corneal injuries (as a stimulating, restorative drug).
Ineffective against:
- inflammation and redness of the eyes;
- eye fatigue;
- bacterial infections.
Therapeutic effect
Once on the surface of the eyeball and under the eyelids when dripping, the drug diffuses into the ocular structure, exerting a characteristic effect. When using Taufon within the specified therapeutic dosages, the drug almost does not penetrate into the general blood circulation.
A taurine-containing drug is prescribed to persons over 18 years of age for eye pathologies associated with metabolic disorders and retinal nutrition.
Among the typical diseases, it should be noted: corneal dystrophy, cataracts acquired as a result of diabetes, irradiation or eye trauma, increased intraocular pressure as a manifestation of glaucoma, hereditary taperetinal abiotrophies.
Taufon is also used as a stimulant for accelerated recovery of the injured cornea of the eye. Taufon release forms:
- The medicine is available in liquid form and has a clear, colorless, watery texture.
- Pipette bottles of 5 and 10 ml. Cardboard packs with 1 or five bottles are offered for sale.
- Glass darkened vials of 5 or 10 ml with a pipette cap. Packed one bottle per pack.
The drug belongs to the “B” category list: the drops should be stored in a dark place, protected from children, at a temperature of no more than 150C and no lower than 80C. The shelf life of an unopened bottle is 36 months. After opening the bottle - no more than one month.
How does an allergy to taufon manifest itself?
Many ophthalmological diseases are a consequence of excessive load on the organs of vision, leading to their chronic fatigue and the development of “dry eye” syndrome.
At the first discomfort (insufficient natural hydration of the eyes, tingling, redness of the tunica albuginea, etc.)
) you should consult with a specialist and carry out a number of preventive measures to prevent a decrease in visual function.
Taufon eye drops are a fortified product that is ideal both for the prevention of vision problems and for the primary symptoms of dryness.
Indications for use
Taufon drops help stimulate regeneration and energy processes, and also have an antioxidant effect. Their uncontrolled and excessive use threatens a sharp deterioration of vision. But if you follow the doctor’s recommendations and the instructions for the drug, the drug gives a positive result in treatment:
- injuries and burns (mechanical, chemical, etc.) of the cornea, mucous membrane;
- retinal and corneal dystrophy;
- secondary open-angle glaucoma;
- cataracts of various nature;
- eye damage from direct sunlight, etc.
In the treatment of dystrophic changes, cataracts and glaucoma, the drug is used in combination with potent drugs.
Proper treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis - instructions for Floxal eye ointment.
Instructions for using Oftan Dexamethasone eye drops are presented here.
Composition and release form
Taufon is available in the form of eye drops. The colorless, odorless liquid can be placed in dropper bottles made of plastic or dark glass. The standard volume is 5 ml and 10 ml. The polymer dropper tube holds 1.3 ml of the drug.
The main active component is taurine, necessary for metabolic and recovery processes. This sulfoamino acid is produced by the human body from the amino acid cysteine, found in bile and some tissues.
The natural production of taurine is suspended or significantly reduced due to exposure to electromagnetic radiation on the organs of vision (from a monitor, modern gadgets, etc.).
In these eye drops, the taurine ratio is 4 mg per 1 ml.
Auxiliary components in the formula:
- nipagin (an antioxidant that extends the shelf life of the drug);
- purified water for injection.
Clinical studies of the effects of these drops on the body of children under the age of 18 have not been conducted, as a result of which the drug is not recommended for persons under the age of majority.
Instructions for use
Features of treatment with Taufon eye drops depend on the ophthalmological pathology:
- For all types of cataracts, instillation of a 4% solution is repeated up to 4 times a day, 1-2 drops of the product into each conjunctival sac. Treatment lasts a maximum of 90 days, after which you should take a break for up to 30 days.
- For traumatic lesions and dystrophic changes, the treatment regimen is selected individually in each individual case, taking into account their severity and other associated features. The course should not exceed 1 month.
Self-medication with Taufon eye drops can have the exact opposite effect due to incorrectly calculated dosage and duration of instillation.
Analogs
There is no product absolutely identical to Taufon. But the drug can be replaced by a cheap Ukrainian-made analogue - Taurine, which is similar in active substance. There are also a number of eye drops that have similar therapeutic effects. The most popular of them:
- Vita-Iodurol , intended for the prevention and treatment of cataracts. It is based on calcium chloride (2 mg), magnesium chloride (3 mg), nicotinic acid. Can be used during pregnancy if the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the development of the fetus.
- Catalin . The package contains a sodium pyrenoxine tablet and a 15 ml bottle of sodium chloride solution, which acts as a solvent. To prepare the drops directly, you need to mix its contents.
- Khrustalin . Also used for presbyopia. The formula contains nicotinamide, adenosine and other substances.
- Ujala . This Ayurvedic tonic contains 2 active substances: boerhavia diffuse (eliminates inflammation, increased lacrimation and pain) and potassium nitrate (has an antimicrobial effect).

What does it contain?
Let's start with the chemical composition. It's quite simple. Taufon is taurine, a substance that enhances regenerative processes. Refers to metabolic agents. It is produced by the pharmacological industry from 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid. By its structure, it is a sulfur-containing amino acid.
After contact with the membranes of the eye, this substance enhances metabolism and improves oxygen access to the tissues of the eye. Under normal conditions, this amino acid is produced in sufficient quantities in the human body from cysteine. But when electromagnetic rays hit the membranes of the eye, the synthesis of amino acids slows down.
As excipients, the drops include eye-safe water for injection and a number of preservatives to prevent the development of bacterial flora. Taufon is produced in a special bottle equipped with a pipette dispenser. It is quite convenient to use. But you should remember that the opened bottle should be stored in the refrigerator for no longer than 14 days.
After this, the use of eye drops is unacceptable and can lead to infection. Eye drops in Taufonom help in almost all cases when it is necessary to urgently restore regenerative processes in the eye tissues. For cataracts, this drug helps to significantly reduce the growth rate of the spot.
At the same time, regular use leads to the fact that reverse processes gradually begin, as a result of which the cataract with a high degree of probability can completely regress. These drops have already saved a large number of people from inevitable surgery and blindness.
In addition to first aid for eyes affected by computer radiation, drops can be used for:
- corneal injuries;
- injuries of mucous membranes;
- after an insect or debris gets into the eye;
- for burns, including chemical ones;
- when damaged by sunlight;
- cataract.
Symptoms of an allergy to taufon
The active ingredient of Taufon, taurine, is an aminocarboxylic sulfur-containing acid. Large concentrations of taurine are present in almost all tissues of the body: in the heart, liver, brain, retina. Often the human body loses it under stress and increased workload.
Recent studies show that taurine improves metabolic processes in the body and, as a regulator of ion flows, prevents premature cell death, which is why the drug Taufon is so in demand.
The composition of eye drops, in addition to taurine, includes an auxiliary substance - water for injection, it is absolutely safe for the eye mucosa . In addition, the medicine contains preservatives that prevent the growth of bacteria.
The moderate price also contributes to the wide distribution of the drug.
The positive effects of the drug Taufon are as follows:
- The ability to normalize intraocular pressure and initiate restoration processes in the tissues of the eye during injuries and lesions.
- Pronounced antioxidant properties, minimizing the possibility of developing cancer.
- Reducing blood pressure, which reduces the possibility of developing atherosclerosis.
- The use of the drug for people who suffer from diabetes is due to the ability of this medicine to lower blood sugar levels.
Release forms
- Tablets (as well as capsules). In this form, the drug is taken before meals, twice a day, 0.25 - 0.5 g. The course of treatment reaches thirty days. The price of tablets is slightly higher than drops, but also very reasonable.
- Taufon eye drops are a 4% taurine solution. Packaged in polymer dropper bottles.
First, the drug is warmed in the palms to body temperature. Before use, be sure to shake the bottle and instill two drops, first into one eye, then into the other. Then close the eyes and make circular movements with the eyes so that the drug is distributed evenly.Treatment may last from several weeks to several months. Store Taufon eye drops in the refrigerator for no more than 28 days after opening the package.
- Solution for injection into the conjunctival sac.
Administration occurs using an insulin syringe and must be carried out by a qualified healthcare professional. This method of administering the drug is practically not prescribed for children.
Indications for the drug Taufon
For adults, Taufon is used for:
- Corneal injuries
- Cataracts (traumatic, age-related and radiation)
- Disorders of the mucous membrane of the eye
For dystrophic diseases and injuries of the cornea, Taufon eye drops are prescribed two drops 2-4 times a day for a month.
Often corneal diseases are associated with decreased immunity or poor nutrition. In this case, the drug has a supporting effect.
Retinal dystrophy occurs mainly in older people and is also an indication for the use of Taufon. The medicine improves and restores the condition of blood vessels , and also stimulates cell regeneration.
If cataracts are detected, instillation of the drug is prescribed in the same doses for three months. Taufon eye drops slow down pathological processes in the tissues of the eye and help stop the growth rate of spots with cataracts. Instructions for use recommend using them both before and after surgery.
Experts emphasize that to obtain the effect of the drug Taufon, long-term use of the drug is necessary . However, if the drops are used incorrectly for a long time, the reverse process may occur, reducing visual acuity. That is why consultation with an ophthalmologist before using the drug and strict adherence to the instructions is a prerequisite.
Taufon drops can also be used for preventive purposes ; this is especially true for people who spend a long time reading books or at the computer.
As a result of electromagnetic radiation, excessive dryness of the mucous membrane of the eyes occurs, the consequences of which are redness of the eyes and burning.
This is not a harmless condition, which, if not taken promptly, can lead to the development of myopia or cataracts.
Analogues of Taufon eye drops
Since these drops can be combined with other medications that are used for cataracts and glaucoma, ophthalmologists quite often prescribe Taufon to patients.
Analogues of the drug with a similar therapeutic effect are Vitafacol, Khrustalin, Catalin, Actovegin. However, there is only one analogue with the same active ingredient - Taurine.
Price
Another positive point that explains the great popularity of this medicine is its reasonable price. If Taufon costs 100 -150 rubles, then Khrustalin 500 - 600 rubles, Catalina costs 300 rubles and more, Actovegin will cost approximately 500 rubles. Only Taurine has a lower price than Taufon - from 25 rubles per bottle.
Natural sources of taurine are animal products. These are mainly fish, crabs, and shellfish. It is also present in poultry meat, and to a lesser extent in beef and pork. A deficiency of this element in the diet does not manifest itself quickly, but long-term taurine deficiency can create many problems.
Dosage
The medicine is used topically. Before using it, you must study the instructions for use in order to achieve a positive effect from the therapy and avoid side effects. The abstract states that treatment regimens differ for different diseases:
- For cataracts, the drug is used for three months, two drops three times a day. The interval between re-therapy is four weeks.
- For injuries and corneal dystrophy, the medicine is used in the same way.
- To treat open-angle glaucoma, drops are used twice a day.
- For retinal dystrophy, Taufon must be instilled for ten days, two drops once a day. You must wait eight months for re-therapy.
- As a preventative measure to improve vision, relieve fatigue, and saturate the eyes with vitamins, drops are used once every three days.
For all indications, the drug is used as part of complex therapy. There is no data on drug overdose.
How to use Taufon eye drops
Eye drops must be prescribed strictly by a qualified ophthalmologist in a medical facility. Only he will be able to correctly analyze the treatment regimen, taking into account the patient’s health condition and the severity of the pathology.
The dosage regimen of the drug according to the instructions should be carried out as follows:
- For cataracts, the drug should be used 4 times a day. 1-2 drops of solution are injected into each eye. The course of treatment is 3 months. If necessary, the process can be repeated after 30 days.
- For glaucoma, the drug "Taufon" is prescribed together with medications of the beta-blocker group. The course of treatment is 4 months. Apply drops 2 times a day for 20 minutes. before using other drugs. Recommended dose is 1-2 drops for each eye.
- For microtrauma of the eye epithelium, the course of treatment is 2 weeks. The medicine is instilled 1-2 drops into each eye 4 times a day. After 6-8 months, it is recommended to repeat the course of treatment.
- During eye dystrophy, Taufon is used 2 drops once a day. The duration of treatment is 10 days.
At the end of treatment, you need to undergo a second eye examination. If necessary, the doctor will extend the course of treatment or cancel it completely.
Side effects
Allergic reactions (itching and swelling of the eyes) may occur as side effects. Taurine can lower eye pressure in patients with glaucoma. Use of the drug during lactation and pregnancy is permitted after identifying the benefits and risks. The safety and effectiveness of Taufon drops during this period have not yet been established.
The medicine is prescribed only to persons over 18 years of age. The medicine can be purchased in pharmacies without a prescription from your doctor. Drops must be stored in a dark place out of reach of children at temperatures up to +26 degrees Celsius.
Shelf life after opening is 1 month. The shelf life of the drug in polyethylene bottles is up to 2 years, in glass containers - up to 4.
Ophthalmic drops increase the hypotensive effect of drugs belonging to the group of beta-blockers (timolol and butylaminohydroxypropoxyphenoxymethyl methyloxadiazole) in patients with open-angle glaucoma. The drug enhances the effectiveness of cardiac glycosides. For this reason, the dosage of such drugs must be reduced.
How to bury?
Source: zrenie-glaz.ru Eye drops for glaucoma are the main way to stop the development of the disease.
The main task of the drugs is to reduce intraocular pressure to normal levels. Thus, stopping damage to the optic nerve and preventing the onset of blindness. Medicines for high blood pressure are divided into two types: those that stimulate the outflow of fluid and those that reduce the production of fluid inside the eye. Treatment begins at the first symptoms of the disease, as prescribed by the doctor. It is necessary to instill 2-3 times a day.
Glaucoma is usually a chronic disease and complete cure is almost impossible. The patient will use the medicine prescribed to lower blood pressure throughout his life. Constant use of drugs that reduce intraocular pressure makes it possible to restrain optic nerve atrophy and prevent vision loss.
Rules for preparing for instillation of eye drops:
- Before instilling eye drops, you must wash your hands thoroughly with soap.
- It is very important to use a new pipette for each medicine.
- When instilling drops, be sure not to allow the patient's body to come into contact with the pipette.
- If you use a pipette that is not included in the bottle, you must rinse it thoroughly with boiled water after each use and then dry it.
- If you need to use different drops at the same time, they must be used at least 15 minutes apart. This applies to the use of both eye and ear drops, nasal preparations, sprays and other external forms.
Step-by-step instructions for using any eye drops:
- Before using eye drops, lie down or sit with your head tilted back.
- Slowly and gently pull down the lower eyelid and roll your eyes up.
- Place the required number of drops into the resulting space between the eyelid and the eyeball.
- Close both eyes and sit like this for 4-5 minutes. You can also massage the inner corners of your eyes with light movements at this time.
- The used pipette for dropping drops into the eyes must be washed and boiled after each use.
Let's learn how to properly instill eye drops for glaucoma. Note that the human eye is able to hold about 10 microliters of liquid: this is five hundredths of the volume of a teaspoon. So, instilling a large amount of liquid into the eyes when treating glaucoma is useless and harmful: once it enters the body, the medicine penetrates into the blood, which acts like an intravenous injection.
To eliminate such an undesirable and dangerous effect, follow these steps when instilling the medicine.
- Wash your hands and face thoroughly with soap and dry. Pull back your lower eyelid to create a pocket-like receptacle for fluid. Throw your head back.
- From the pipette, drop one drop of the product into the formed pocket. Then close the eye and lightly press your finger on the inner corner: this measure will clog the tear duct and help keep the medicine inside the eye. It is necessary to keep this for 3-5 minutes for the medicine to work for sure.
- After the designated time, remove your finger, straighten your head; if a little of the medicine leaks out of the eye, remove it from the skin with a cotton swab. Repeat all the above steps for the second eye, if necessary.
Taufon to improve vision
I already wrote above that after that I decided to carry out a treatment regimen for myopia with Taufon (and wrote how to carry it out). I found this method on the Internet and decided to test it for myself.
I carried out this procedure once a day before bed for 10 days. Specially before the procedure, I went to the clinic and had my eyes checked, the result was minus 5! After 10 days, the result is minus 4.5! Vision has improved by half a diopter! Honestly, I was in great shock and just couldn’t believe it.
As for whether vision deteriorates over time, I can’t say yet. But I can say for sure that now I will do this procedure every six months!
