Multifunctional solutions - what are they?

MFR (multifunctional solutions) belong to the first group. They have a stabilized composition, well-chosen components, including:

Wearing lenses has a disadvantage - a decrease in the effectiveness of the eye's protective systems. This results in increased susceptibility to infections affecting the eyes. Lens processing must be carried out flawlessly, in accordance with all rules, to eliminate the risk of inflammation.

A peroxide cleaning system is suitable for these purposes. Today it is considered the “gold standard” of disinfection for all types of contact lenses.

Contact lens solution

Lens solutions are a necessary tool that allows you to use not only disposable and continuous wear lenses, but also other types of lenses. They provide cleaning, moisturizing, disinfection and storage of contact correction products. Solutions are needed both for cleaning lenses and for cleaning containers where lenses are stored.

It is important to choose a solution that is compatible with contact lenses. Also, when choosing, the sensitivity of the eyes is also taken into account; if the eyes are sensitive to allergens, then you need to choose cleaning products that are hypoallergenic and will not cause harm.

Features of peroxide cleaning systems

Hydrogen peroxide has long been used as a disinfectant. 3{997bfdf4ba95098f60ae0cf5b6dba8b6251f19896631646fc45584fd70e8a175} solution is used for medical purposes (treatment of instruments, surfaces, skin damage, etc.). Neutralization of hydrogen peroxide in care systems is carried out using neutralization (“decomposition”).

There were some negative aspects:

• it is necessary to neutralize hydrogen peroxide to prevent damage to the eye;
• inconvenience of using the system on the go;
• lack of confidence that the patient will adhere to all treatment rules.

There are several important points to pay attention to:

• Use only the container supplied with the solution. If you use another container, the hydrogen peroxide will not be neutralized.
• The lens is not treated with a peroxide solution before immediate wearing to eliminate the possibility of peroxide getting into the eye.
• Until the “decomposition” is complete, it is forbidden to put on the contact lens (the exact period of time is given in the instructions for use). If you break the rule, you can get a burn to the eye tissue.
• Not for use on colored lenses.
• To care for hard contact lenses, additional abrasive treatment (Boston Advance Cleaner) will be required.

Important: the peroxide system does not contain preservatives, unlike MFR.

"AOSEPT PLUS HydraGlyde" is a product. The solution is interesting for its composition; it contains pluronic 17P4, which is both a cleanser and a moisturizing agent, allowing you to wear lenses comfortably, without discomfort.

The cleaning system is extremely easy to use. The kit includes a bottle of stabilized hydrogen peroxide (3{997bfdf4ba95098f60ae0cf5b6dba8b6251f19896631646fc45584fd70e8a175}). There are several volume options - 90 and 360 ml. There is also a special container with a platinum catalyst. When processing, you must maintain the specified time period - 6 hours. This will avoid unforeseen situations and injuries to the eye tissue.

Below are instructions for step-by-step use of the AOSEPT PLUS peroxide system:

• Before starting, you will need to wash your hands and wait until they are completely dry;
• open the lens holder, place the left lens on the convex part (there is an “L” marking). Close the lens holder, do not pinch the contact lens;
• carry out similar actions with the second lens, place it in the cell of the lens holder marked “R”;
• rinse the lenses with the solution (no longer than 5 seconds);
• fill the container with the solution strictly to the mark; it is forbidden to overfill or underfill, only according to the mark ;
• insert the lens holder into the container, close tightly, do not shake;
• place the container straight;
• leave the lenses in the solution for 6 hours so that the hydrogen peroxide is completely neutralized;
• Once the “decomposition” is complete, remove the lenses from the container and you can use them;
• Pour out the used solution, rinse the items thoroughly with saline solution, tap water is prohibited ;
• leave the container to dry;
• If the lenses do not need to be put on immediately, they can be stored for up to two weeks in the AOSEPT PLUS solution, the container must be closed during this entire time.

Ever Clean (Avizor, Spain)

The Ever Clean peroxide system contains a 3{997bfdf4ba95098f60ae0cf5b6dba8b6251f19896631646fc45584fd70e8a175} solution. The volume of the bottle is 225 ml. There are also two-layer tablets (30 pieces) and a special container. The product can be used for any type of CL.

The Ever Clean lens cleaning algorithm is as follows:

• wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap and dry them;
• open the lens holder, place the left lens on the convex part (there is an “L” marking). Close the lens holder, do not pinch the contact lens;
• carry out similar actions with the right lens, place it in the cell of the lens holder marked “R”;
• place the tablet in the container, fill it with the solution to the mark (not lower or higher);
• insert the lens holder into the container, close tightly, shake well;
• place the container straight;
• leave the lenses in the solution for 2 hours so that the hydrogen peroxide is completely neutralized; the completion of the reaction will be indicated by the yellow-green color of the solution;
• upon completion of processing, you need to remove the lenses from the container, you can use them;
• pour out the solution, thoroughly rinse the container and lens holders with saline solution, tap water is prohibited ;
• leave the container to dry;
• If you do not need to wear the lenses immediately, you can store them for about 48 hours in a tightly closed container.

The cleansing effect of the white part of the tablet begins to appear immediately after immersion in the solution, thanks to the SELF ACTION effect, which activates hydrogen peroxide (increasing the effectiveness of 3% hydrogen peroxide, corresponding to the effect of 5%), promoting the effective removal of proteins and lipids from the surface of the lenses.

Simultaneously with the white layer, but somewhat slower and longer lasting, the green layer of the tablet acts, which controls the process of neutralizing hydrogen peroxide.

The process of complete neutralization lasts 2 hours, after which the hydrogen peroxide is converted into a saline solution that has a light green color, which indicates the completion of the process.

The solution is buffered and isotonic. The physiological value of pH corresponds to the pH of the tear film.

Instructions for use EVER CLEAN:

1.Before putting on or removing contact lenses, you should thoroughly wash and dry your hands.

2. Place the lenses in the compartments (baskets) of the container.

3.Fill the container with EVER CLEAN disinfectant solution to the specified level.

4. Add one EVER CLEAN tablet to the container containing the solution.

5. Close the container with a lid.

6. Shake the container gently to thoroughly sanitize everything.

7. Make sure the tablet is in the EVER CLEAN solution for the neutralization process to begin. The position of the container must be vertical

8. Air bubbles will immediately appear on the tablet. When the neutralization process is complete (after 2 hours), the EVER CLEAN solution will turn a light green color, indicating that the neutralization process is complete and your lenses are sanitized, cleaned and ready for use.

9. Before removing lenses from EVER CLEAN solution, shake the container gently.

10. Once the lenses are removed from the case, pour out the solution and rinse the case with AVIZOR saline solution, and then set it to dry.
