Some believe that solving the problem of sagging skin of the upper eyelids is possible only with the help of a special surgical operation - blepharoplasty. However, this is not at all true. You can make your skin tightened and elastic with the help of completely simple exercises for the upper eyelid, which act in the same way as surgery, only much safer.

Rules for performing eyelid exercises

As with any other exercise, there are some rules for training the eyelids. Therefore, before you start doing gymnastics for drooping eyelids, you should remember the rules that you need to follow so that your work is not in vain.

  1. The training should be done daily, without skipping, especially since it only takes about 15 minutes a day.
  2. Before performing exercises, you must wash your hands with soap and remove makeup.
  3. Gymnastics can be performed in any position - even lying down, even standing, even sitting, the main thing is that you feel comfortable and comfortable.
  4. Before starting your workout, you should take a deep breath and relax as much as possible.
  5. It is recommended to perform the exercises in front of a mirror the first couple of times to make sure that you are doing everything correctly.
  6. Before performing exercises, you must do a warm-up.
  7. After finishing the upper eyelid workout, you should wash your face with cool water or wipe your skin with an ice cube.

Warm up before performing eyelid lift exercises

Before you start doing exercises that will tone your upper eyelids, you should definitely devote 4-5 minutes to a light warm-up.

  1. We look in front of us, then, slowly, look away as far as possible to the left, count to three and lift it up. Next, count to three again and look to the right. We do this six circles, trying to peer as far as possible.
  2. Raise your head up, direct your gaze as high as possible, open your mouth slightly, and then blink very quickly for about 30 seconds.
  3. Finally, we close our eyes, count to three, and then open them as wide as possible and look into the distance. Next, we close our eyes again, trying to keep our forehead and eyebrows motionless. So we repeat the exercise six times.

Eyelid tone exercise

After warming up, you can begin to perform the first exercise of our gymnastics for the upper eyelids. Thanks to it, the motor muscle of the upper eyelid will work and become toned, and the eyes will relax. To do this, you need to open your eyes and then blink quickly 15 times. Then close your eyes, count to five, open them again and blink 10 times. The exercise should be repeated 10-12 times.

Are there any contraindications?

Contraindications are general. You cannot exercise during the active phase of inflammatory processes, during an exacerbation of chronic diseases, when you feel unwell, or at a high temperature. The main contraindication is infectious lesions on the skin, severe acne. But again, here you need to understand that some exercises can be done, and some are better not, so as not to spread the infection.

These exercises should not be performed by people who have undergone surgery on their face: plastic surgery, implantation of gold threads (mesotherapy does not apply here). Such interventions disrupt the anatomical structure of the face, the muscles no longer work as well and the exercises will not be effective.

Improving muscle structure

Now let's move on to the next exercise for the upper eyelid, which will help improve the muscle structure of the upper eyelids, making them firmer and more elastic. For this workout, we place the pads of our index fingers on the eyebrows, and the pads of our thumbs on the upper eyelids. In this case, your fingers should put a little pressure on the eyelids and put a lot of pressure on the eyebrows. Next, for two seconds we try to open our eyes, overcoming the resistance provided by our fingers, after which we return to the starting position. We repeat the exercise 10-12 times. By the way, every day you can touch different parts of the eyebrows and upper eyelids with your fingers, moving from the temples to the nose and back.

Causes of wrinkles, drooping eyelids, sunken eyes and bruises under the eyes

It is generally accepted that with age, muscles weaken, losing their tone. In reality, everything happens the other way around. Age-related changes in the eyelids begin due to muscle hypertonicity.

A spasm often occurs in the orbicularis oculi muscle, causing it to decrease from above towards the inner corner, and from below towards the outer edge. Because of this, the skin that was previously stretched over the muscle becomes redundant and begins to sag.

Due to the habit of sleeping on the side, creases are formed that run from the outer corner of the eye to the nose. Changing your sleeping position can correct this problem.

Due to the work of the temporal muscle, crow's feet are formed during squinting and laughing. Also, the reason for their appearance is the drying out of the temporal region of the bone structure with age, due to which the muscle narrows, adapting to the changes in the bone, and the skin folds into folds.

Due to poor lymphatic drainage in the body and deformation of bone and muscle structures, excess fluid begins to accumulate between the skin of the eyelids and the muscles. This is manifested by swelling of the upper eyelid, its overhang, and bags under the eyes.

Drooping of the upper eyelid is also associated with deformation of the orbicularis oculi, frontal and temporal muscles, since these muscles are interconnected.

Deformed muscles in the forehead point downward, causing the skin to sag over the eyes.

A spasmed temporalis muscle causes the skin to sag at the outer corner of the eye, and the skin under the inner part of the eyebrow begins to sag due to hypertonicity of the corrugator muscle.

Why do eyes become smaller, sunken and hollow with age?

Often, due to spasm and narrowing of the orbicularis oculi muscle, with age the eyelids become smaller in size and seem to sink in, their shape changes.

Let us note that such changes are associated, among other things, with psychological aging, when a person loses interest in life, stops looking at everything with wide open eyes, and his eyelids narrow.

When the eyes sink, a protrusion appears under the eyelid in the shape of a “step” - this phenomenon is called “deepening of the tear trough.” It is formed at the junction of the orbicularis eyelid muscle with other facial muscles. In this place, blood circulation deteriorates, and a pronounced darkening appears.

Since with age, most of the muscles on the face are in hypertonicity, the deformed lateral nasal muscle, the muscle that lifts the upper lip and the wing of the nose, increase the manifestations of the tear trough and bruises under the eyes due to the fact that the area of the lateral part of the nose becomes shorter, approaching century. Due to poor blood circulation, the amount of fatty tissue in this area increases, a bulge forms, and the eye appears more sunken.

A block of the orbicularis muscle and other muscles adjacent to it impedes blood circulation in the eye area and lymph outflow. The tissues receive poor nutrients and waste from stagnant lymph poisons them, the color and structure of the skin changes, it becomes thin with a blue tint.

Pat

The third exercise when performing gymnastics to raise the upper eyelid is done in order to bring it into a state of tone. The first thing you should do before training is apply a moisturizer to your eyelids, and after that you can start patting the skin around your eyes with your fingertips, that is, both the upper and lower eyelids. The exercise time should be about 30 seconds. And it is also very important to remember that finger strikes should not be painful or cause discomfort, and in the place of the outer and inner corners of the eyes, the claps should be more delicate.

Why do wrinkles around the eyes appear earlier than others?

The epidermis on the eyelids is very thin - no more than 0.5 mm, and is also devoid of fat. Under intense stress caused by active facial expressions, lack of moisture, and sleep, it quickly loses its tone, stretches, and sags. And these are the first signs of aging - wrinkles, bags, swelling, ptosis.

Among the factors that provoke early aging of the eyelids, cosmetologists identify:

  • dehydration caused by moisture deficiency and leading to the formation of superficial wrinkles;
  • increased facial activity, the habit of squinting the eyes, which contributes to the loss of elasticity of the dermis;
  • improper or unbalanced nutrition, which provokes the accumulation of toxins and deficiency of nutrients;
  • aggressive action of ultraviolet radiation;
  • dry air that promotes moisture loss;
  • smog, dust, poor-quality cosmetics lead to deterioration of skin breathing;
  • bad habits;
  • sleeping on your stomach and the habit of vigorously rubbing your eyes cause mechanical stretching of the skin;
  • stress, lack of sleep.

Eyelid lifting, if carried out from the age of 25, can slow down the formation of wrinkles and drooping of the eyelids

Exercise against drooping eyelids

The following exercise for the upper eyelid will help tighten the facial muscles to prevent the occurrence and development of drooping eyelids. To do this, you need to open your eyes very, very wide, count to five, and then close, without squinting your eyes, and count to five again. The exercise should be repeated five times. It is important to remember that if you cannot open your eyes wide on your own, you can help to do this with your eyebrows, raising them with an arch. And the second important note: when performing the exercise, your fingers should be placed on your forehead so that folds do not form on it.

Does this mean that if I start taking care of myself earlier, my wrinkles will appear later?

Prevention is everything. And this applies not only to wrinkles. Prevention is always better, but this does not mean that if the problem already exists, you need to give up on yourself. You may not remove all wrinkles, but you will improve the condition of your face by 50-70%.

A gymnastics complex for the facial muscles consists of 20 exercises for various muscle groups, but at the age of 25 you do not need to do all of them. To maintain your muscles in normal tone, 2-3 exercises 2-3 times a week are enough.

Upper eyelid exercise

So that the eyelids seem less heavy, and the eyebrows droop and do not give the face a dull look, move on to the next exercise. We place the fingers of the right hand under the left eyebrow, after which we raise it as high as possible. Then we count to three and raise our gaze upward, and then look away to the side. We freeze in this position, count to ten, and then begin to blink slowly, again counting to ten. On the final chord, we close our eyes, forcefully pressing the upper eyelid to the eyeball, and again count to ten. Then repeat everything a couple more times from the very beginning.

To strengthen the forehead muscles

The following workout for the upper eyelids will not only tone them, but also strengthen the forehead muscles and raise the eyebrows. To make this happen, place your fingertips on your eyebrows and lift them up. Then we make light pushes with our eyebrows upward, trying to overcome the pressure of our fingers that do not allow us to do this, after which we lower our eyebrows, then raise them again with our fingers up and count to 30. And at the end we release our fingers, relax our eyebrows and lightly massage them with the pads of our index fingers in light circular motions movements. The first few times you practice this way, your eyes will tingle slightly out of habit. The main thing is not to give up training right away, but to continue the exercise. At the end of the exercise, you should do one more repetition.

What is the essence of the technique

All classical methods of non-surgical lifting are divided into dynamic and static. By performing dynamic exercises, you change the length of the muscle (it is important to do everything correctly, otherwise you can harm yourself). Static exercises do not change the length of the muscle. The advantage of the second group is that even if you do the exercises incorrectly, you will not harm yourself (it cannot be that you tightened your face on the right by 1 cm, and on the left by 2 cm).

Julia's technique is based on isometric contractions - this is when muscles contract but do not change their length. Isometric loading is performed in a static position.

And finally, you can perform an exercise that is designed to correct the skin of the eyes and has an excellent rejuvenating effect. You should relax, place the pads of your index, middle and ring fingers under your eyebrow, and then lift the skin up and in different directions towards your temples. After this, without taking your fingers off the skin, lower your eyebrows without closing your eyes. When it is no longer possible to lower the eyebrows further, count to five and remove your fingers from your face. We take deep breaths and exhale, after which we repeat the exercise a couple more times.

Upper eyelid massage

In order for the eyelids to become strong, elastic and truly make the eyes the mirror of the soul, you need not only to perform a set of exercises for lifting the eyelids, but also to devote time to massaging them. Before performing it, you should prepare the skin of your eyelids by first placing a compress of cotton pads soaked in chamomile infusion on them for 10-15 minutes, and then applying moisturizer to your eyelids. After this we begin to massage.

  1. Using the pads of our index fingers, we move from the bridge of the nose to the outer corner of the eyes and back, applying light pressure. We repeat the circle 20 times.
  2. With the pads of our index fingers we move in the same direction, only without pressing on them, but making a patting movement. The circle is again repeated 20 times.
  3. We lightly pinch the eyebrows, moving from the bridge of the nose to their tips. We repeat the massage movements 10 times.
  4. We rub our palms so that they become warm, close our eyes without squeezing them shut, and place our palms on them, which will allow the muscles to relax as much as possible.
