Cold tea bags on the eyes are a well-known way to quickly disperse swelling and smooth out wrinkles. We propose to take a slightly different, much more tortuous path, which will lead us to a new cosmetic level and teach us to use green tea much more sophisticatedly in the good, cosmetic sense of the word.
Tea bags. New level
Pour two bags of green tea without additives with hot (below 80*C) water so that the water completely covers them. Remove after 2-3 minutes and place on several layers of paper towel to drain excess moisture. Wait until the bags cool down to a temperature that is pleasant for the skin around the eyes.
Apply almond or any other vegetable oil to damp skin. Pat in with your fingertips, paying special attention to wrinkles and swelling.
Lie down or sit and place the bags over your eyes. After 15-20 minutes, remove the bags, rinse your face with cool water and moisturize the skin around your eyes with a light serum.
Course : 3-4 times a week for a month or as needed when you urgently need to give your face a decent look.
Causes of bags under the eyes
Doctors identify several factors that can provoke the formation of swelling. The most harmless ones are regular lack of sleep, overwork, and fatigue of the eye muscles. However, the reason for the formation of bags may lie in a serious illness or genetic features.
Abuse of alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, poor diet, constant stress - all this negatively affects the appearance.
Age-related changes
The skin in the eyelid area has virtually no collagen fibers, which are responsible for the elasticity of the epidermis. The skin under the eyes is in constant motion, because a person often blinks and closes his eyes. Therefore, sooner or later it begins to stretch, as a result, cavities without fatty tissue are formed in the area under the eye, where interstitial moisture accumulates.
After fifty years, destructive processes worsen, and swelling becomes more pronounced. |
Injuries
Even minor damage to the skin can cause inflammation. The liquid component of blood in the form of plasma penetrates into the intercellular space, forming an edematous focus.
For mild injuries, inflammation lasts for three weeks. In case of serious injuries to the lymphatic system that accompany a violation of the outflow of fluid, it may take several months for the swelling to subside.
Allergic factor
Individual intolerance to certain types of external irritants can provoke an allergic reaction. Swelling is observed when an allergen comes into contact with the mucous membrane.
The body begins to actively fight the irritant, resulting in antiseptic inflammation and swelling of the epidermis around the eye sockets.
Toxic lesions
The occurrence of edema and bags can be caused by such “pests” as:
- Alcohol;
- Tobacco products;
- Poor quality cosmetics.
The components that make up these products have a negative effect on the skin; the epidermis cannot “breathe” and stretches. As a result of such processes, moisture accumulates in the cavity under the eyes.
Under no circumstances leave cosmetics on overnight! It definitely needs to be washed off. Also, do not apply the product in too thick a layer, since the air exchange of the skin is disrupted.
Kidney diseases
They are responsible for the water-salt balance in the body and remove accumulated waste products. A malfunction of the kidneys causes the accumulation of moisture in the vascular system, as a result, the liquid part of the blood penetrates into the intercellular space.
First of all, places where there is a large accumulation of connective tissue are hit: eyelids, cheekbones and lips. Swelling associated with pathologies of the paired internal organ is most pronounced in the morning. By the end of the day its severity decreases. |
Eye infections
Pathogenic microorganisms, fungi, viruses can damage the internal structures and tissues of the visual apparatus (conjunctiva, cornea, etc.). Destructive processes can be caused by eye injuries, a malfunction of the immune system, or contact with a carrier of infection. As a result, inflammation is activated with the formation of swelling.
The lower and upper eyelids tend to accumulate interstitial moisture; as a result, the palpebral fissure can close completely. Destructive processes continue until it is possible to get rid of the original source of the abscess and relieve inflammation.
Stye can cause swelling, accompanied by infectious damage to the eyelash follicles.
Hormonal reason
If there is a malfunction of the endocrine glands, then there is a fluctuation in the amount of hormones in the circulatory system. Hormonal instability provokes the accumulation of moisture, which leads to the appearance of edema.
Most often, such a violation occurs during the menstrual cycle, menopause and in case of thyroid hormone deficiency.
Heredity
Some people have a genetic predisposition to swelling. Bags under the eyes appear as a result of the accumulation of fat in the subcutaneous tissue.
Such an anomaly does not pose a threat to human life or health. But in order to avoid the progression of pathological processes, it is recommended to undergo a comprehensive examination in the clinic.

Do-it-yourself green tea macerate at home
Here you will need good loose leaf green tea such as sencha, almond, peach, apricot or any other vegetable oil suitable for frying. Olive oil is not recommended, as in its pure form it can dry out the skin.
Grind green tea in a coffee grinder into fine dust or thoroughly crush it in a mortar. Make sure your tea is and remains clean and dry, as do all utensils you use. Water or any other foreign substances should not get into the macerate, otherwise it will deteriorate very quickly.
Instead of ground green tea, you can use its already ground variety - matcha tea (aka matcha).
Pour the resulting powder with hot but not scalding vegetable oil so that it covers it by 2-3 fingers. Place the container in a warm place for 2-3 weeks. Shake from time to time and add oil if necessary.
Strain the finished macerate (and this is exactly it) through several layers of gauze and store in a dry and clean container, carefully ensuring that no water gets inside. Add to masks and other products not only for the skin around the eyes, but also for the skin of the face, body and hair. It can also be used in products for invigorating anti-cellulite baths. We will focus on the skin of the eyelids.

Green tea mask for swelling and wrinkles
Grind half a teaspoon of macerate with one egg yolk. Apply a thick layer to the skin under the eyes and cover with cotton pads cut in half and soaked in water.
Remove the discs and wash off the remaining mask after 10-20 minutes.
If you are not sure of the impeccable freshness of your eggs, it is better not to use yolks for the skin of the eyelids. Replace them with any fatty cream such as canned Nivea or Evening and Gerontol from the Svoboda factory. You can also try any cosmetic gel and/or serum. Aloe vera gel will also work.
